Famous Motorbike Events in Japan

Imagine roaring down the streets of Tokyo, the skyline reflecting off your visor, as you pull up to one of Japan's premier motorbike events. The hum of engines fills the air, and everywhere you look, there are gleaming machines and fellow enthusiasts. From massive expos to niche gatherings, Japan's motorbike scene is as diverse as it is exhilarating. Here’s a guide to some of the most exciting motorbike events across the country, where every rider can find their tribe.

Tokyo Motorcycle Show

Held annually, the Tokyo Motorcycle Show is the crown jewel of Japan’s motorbike events. Usually held in March each year over three days, the show typically features a whopping 600 booths showcasing the latest from 150 motorcycle makers, auto parts manufacturers, gear producers, and accessory designers. Spread across nearly 30,000 square meters, this event is a paradise for gearheads, offering everything from test rides to sneak peeks at upcoming models. Whether you're hunting for the latest tech or just soaking in the atmosphere, this event is a must-see!

Event Tip: Arrive early! With so many booths, you’ll want ample time to explore everything without feeling rushed.

Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show

Now in its 33rd year, the Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show transforms Pacifico Yokohama into an amazing playground of custom culture. This epic event is celebrated as Japan’s largest indoor custom car and motorcycle show, and packs more style and energy than many multi-day events. The show, organised by Mooneyes Japan, blends classic hot rods, sport customs, legendary bikes, low-riders, mini-trucks, JDM icons and more. Everything you could ever dream of all under one roof! Japanese builders meet global creators, vintage designs meet modern flair, and the atmosphere buzzes with a strong sense of community and creative passion.

Alongside the car and motorcycle show, there’ll be a vendor village and swap meet with hundreds of booths selling custom gear, memorabilia, collectible parts and Mooneyes-branded items. You’ll see a custom paint contest, mini-car and model car displays, and the retro tunes played by live bands add a vibrant vibe turning the hall into a cultural celebration.

Osaka Motorcycle Show

Another heavyweight on the motorbike event calendar, the Osaka Motorcycle Show is held annually in March and showcases everything from the latest sportbikes to vintage machines. This show regularly has big name manufacturers reveal new models and concepts, regularly drawing huge crows and big names. One highlight is the Osaka Prefectural Police Department demonstrating advanced motorcycle techniques, including police motorcycle routines and stunts - these guys are the real deal!

Tickets can be purchased online in advance (usually cheaper than at the door) and give you access to all indoor and outdoor displays. It’s worth arriving early to beat the crowds and catch the live demonstrations. With plenty of food stalls, merchandise stands, and opportunities to sit on and check out the bikes up close, it’s a must-visit event for any rider passing through Kansai in spring.
